Consultant
A volunteer who provides our missions with professional advice in a given field via telephone or email. Consultants use their knowledge and their access to information to assist volunteer counterparts overseas.
Special Requirements
- A cellular phone or a pager, as well as a landline
- Access to the internet
- On-call availability
- Medical expertise preferred
Duties
- Provide back-up direction for overseas staff
- Keep missions updated on the political climate of the target region, so as to ensure their safety
- Research topics of interest or immediate concern for overseas staff
Donations Coordinator
A volunteer who devotes his/her time to informing his/her community of our needs and how they can help, as well as collecting material and financial donations.
Special Requirements
- Possible heavy lifting
Duties
- Attending and/or coordinating fundraising events
- Collecting material donations
- Shipping material donations to the Fishermen for distribution
- Assisting in loading/unloading supplies at our storage facility and/or preparing them for delivery
- Handing out information or speaking within his/her community about the needs of orphans
Mentor
Forum volunteer who gives his/her time guiding orphans into a career path.
Special Requirements
- Access to the internet
Duties
- Establishing and maintaining a rapport on the Forum message board
- Answering questions posed by orphans in a timely fashion
- Establishing relationships with orphans and inquiring as to their needs while providing career advice
- Discuss advantages of education (i.e. "stay in school")
Mission Assistant
A volunteer who devotes his/her time to supplying orphanages and educating orphanage employees about medical care, as well as informing orphans about how to take care of themselves.
Special Requirements
- Domestic and overseas travel
- Current medical certification (EMT or better) helpful
- Possible heavy lifting
Duties
- Sending and/or delivering supplies to orphanages
- Maintaining and expanding a current database of orphanages in the present focus of the Fishermen
- Conducting mission trips to orphanages, domestic and overseas
- Teaching orphans how to take care of themselves and each other
- Teaching orphans and orphanage employees proper use of medical supplies
Mission Specialist
A volunteer who devotes his/her time to supplying orphanages and educating orphanage employees about medical care, as well as informing orphans about how to take care of themselves.
